Forest Bath for Anxiety

What is Anxiety? Seems like a simple question, but not really. It is hard to pinpoint what anxiety actually is. This is because it means different things to different people. You might have different side effects from anxiety than another person. I asked a group of people that I was talking about anxiety with. These are the answers they came up with:

What is Anxiety?

Exhaustion Less interaction with People Lack of Sleep Fidgeting

Overthinking What If Hard to Focus Fear Restless Legs Worry

Hard to Breath Lack of Energy Unhappy Heart Palpitations

I then asked them:

What are some ways that can help anxiety?

Exercise Faith Therapy Working through your Emotions

Healthier Foods Writing Lists Pharmaceuticals

All very good answers and a great way to start. This shouldn't be a me, me, me life. But, how can you help others and live your best life when you do not feel your best. It is ok to take some time to heal, some time to refocus, some time to breath. When you are done, rise like a Phoenix and put your best self forward.

HEAL, REFOCUS & BREATH

I personally came up with a few natural remedies. I would lie awake at night overthinking, while my heart was pounding like I was running a marathon, a pit in my stomach, not being able to take a deep breath, couldn't cry, exhausted. Something always seemed to be wrong.......WHY? I was done feeling this way. I needed to readjust. So, I went to life coaching school. I LOVED it, I can help others through hard parts of their lives, and I understand. But that was not all of what helped me. What helped the most was nature and art.

Shinrin-Yoku=Forest Bath

What I needed was to be out in nature. I went for a hike. I walked over to a beautiful tree and put my hand on the bark of the ponderosa pine tree. I closed my eyes and pointed my face towards the sky. I was grounding myself. I used every sense I could to bring my true self back. Through the tree I could feel energy pulsing. Strange, I know, but the trees energy was transferring to me, giving me strength. I took a deep breath and could smell the sap of the trees and the pollen of the flowers. The sun heated my face to make me warm and happy. The birds chirping and other animals scurrying. I was giving myself a Forest Bath, Shinrin=Yoku, in Japanese.

Everything Can Be Beautiful

How did that help? It showed me that there is SO much more to life than my worries and that there is beauty in everything. Even that poor tree that didn't get as much sunlight as it's friends and grew to the side, that was still beautiful. Every color is represented in the forest and the different textures like the fluff of a cloud, the smooth of the rock or the roughness of the bark. EVERYTHING can be beautiful.

Go outside. Be in nature. Go to a park. Go to a flower store. Go see something that reminds you that there is beauty in nature. Look at the clouds, feel the sun, hear the sounds. Once you are grounded you are ready to work on you. Visit my website and see what I can help you with. I work on a sliding scale, so money is not an issue. Your health is the main focus.
